The hubby and I were on our way to Huntsville one evening, so we decided to stop in, and try this place. It had been recommended to us by friends. My husband likes Cajun seasoned food, so we tried the Cajun ribs. They were fairly tender and seasoned well. Spicy, but not over-powering. I had red beans & rice, and cole slaw. The red beans & rice was tasty, but the cole slaw left much to be desired. It was not chopped fine enough, and there were some large, stemmy shreds of cabbage. It was also very heavy on the mayo. Not much to it really, and not a finely chopped or tasty slaw. My husband had baked beans, and he seemed to think they were fresh out of the can. Both our plates and drinks came to over $30. Also, their dining area is quite cramped. The building was also very hot. It was almost to the point of being unbearable. It was nicer outside on the picnic tables, than inside, as their air conditioning seemed to be on the blink. All in all, not a bad place, but I think for the price, we could go elsewhere, and be a lot more comfortable. I'm not quite willing to write this place off, and would probably eat there again, esp if with our friends who seem to enjoy it.

When in Rome, eat pizza. But when you're in the South, as in Huntsville, Alabama, you need to eat fried sea food. Well Cajun Cafe is the place to go to see how the locals dine. The place is nondescript form the outside and would not cause a second look if you were just driving by. But once inside, the smell alone will make you stay and the food will surely delight. This is a no non-sense type of business where the only things that matter are the food and their friendliness. I ordered the spiced baked grouper with turnip greens and red beans and rice for sides. Both the sides were the best I've had, which reminds me that I'm in hte South and if one cannot make good turnip greens or red beans and rice, one should not be in te restaurant business here. In fact, the sides were so good I forgot that the grouper itself was sooo delicious. Needless to say I was completely satisfied and cannot wait for the next opportunity. Let's not forget that boiled peanuts and benyas were available for patrons to sample before/after the meal. If ya don't know what these are or haven't had them, y'all better get off your city slicker behinds and come on down to CC.

I've been to some of the best Cajun places in America and let me tell you this is a hidden secret. Entrees are under $10 and if you love fresh crawfish you can't beat around $5.50 per pound. Try paying that in Huntsville and its just across the Whitesburg Bridge. Love it

Talk about a hole in the wall. This place is about as ramshackle as you can get--or at least it looks that way as you fly by it on 231 heading into or out of Huntsville. But if you take the time to slow down, pull off, and step inside, you'll find a unique little Cajun eatery, serving up food straight out of the Louisiana bayous. Order up at the counter, and then grab a table inside, outside, or in the beached and gutted boat stuck next to the main part of the restaurant. The food is full of flavor and can pack some heat if you want it to.

Wonderful food! The catfish po boy is just ridiculously good. Every week they have different specials, and honestly I doubt you can go wrong with anything you get. It's that good. This place is a diamond in rough. Don't let the exterior fool you, because once you take the first bite you'll know why you stopped & continue to think about it for the rest of the day.

We eat there every week. That's how good it is! Try the broiled shrimp, the fish plates are great too. We usually get the grouper or the talapia plate. Their hushpupies are to-die-for! I am getting hungry writing this review!! Be aware, they are only open Thu-Sunday. Also, the dinning room is not all that! So we usually call in our order and take it to go.

Mom and I went to Cajun Café for a improvised 4th of July picnic "to go" to take to Ditto Landing and enjoy. They closed early, since it was 4th of July and we were fortunate to get there with 30 minutes to spare. Yes, it is in a refurbished gas station painted solid white on the exterior and yes it has quite a few Louisiana knick knacks all around. Health Dept. rating was an 88. The spicy hot boiled peanuts are set up at a table to the left of the entrance and you help yourself...dump a spoonful from the crock pot style warmer in a plastic cup and enjoy! These were good and spicy and reminded me of the roadside stands I used to enjoy in Charleston on the way to the beach with an ice cold beer, but I digress, Morgan County is a dry county, so no beer for Cajun Café diners. Mom got the small popcorn shrimp, described as "mild" with 2 hushpuppies and her choice of sides. She opted for green beans and potato salad. Wanting something a little lighter, I opted for the spiced tilapia filet with cole slaw, cabbage and two hush puppies. The young ladies working the order counter were sweet as pecan pie, and had our orders all ready in around 20 minutes. They gave us a wide selection of their sauces and we tasted all 3 plus the tartar sauce which was clearly house made, and so good! They even helped us out the door, since mom is a senior who uses a cane and their demeanors were memorable, friendly, smiley, friendly! Really refreshing! Mom loved her popcorn shrimp, and there was a good sized portion of them, and since she is not a "heat seeker" she was happy to have a non-spicy option on the menu. We got out of there in just under $20 including a couple of bucks tip dropped in the counter service tip jar. The tilapia was surprisingly fresh tasting and good! It was sprinkled with a red spice but it was only apparent visually, in other words, it needed more spice to suit me. The hushpuppies were good, too. There was a good sized crowd on this lovely Saturday, with many getting orders to go. I'd like to try some of their more authentic Cajun dishes (vice the tilapia) on our next visit to CC.

4.5 out of 5 stars. Only thing missin' is a good cold beer which isn't their fault because the restaurant is located in part of the dry county. Also, they are only open Thursday thru Saturday from 11 to 8 and on Sunday from 11 to 2. It's one of the best deals and secrets around. Don't judge it by it's outside appearance. Or you can.. and miss out. Love their side items also. Boiled cajun peanuts while you wait is perfect touch. I will be regular from now on.

Amazing catfish. Took two buddies there for lunch yesterday and we all tried the catfish. My buddy who has lives in HSV too many years says it's the Best Catfish he's ever tried and he's travelled all over AL. I think this place is better than Champy's in Muscle Shoals and Champy's was my standard. Get to the Cajun cafe if you can. Great food places like this only come around once in a great while. The food is damned good!

This mom and pop place has great character and amazing food. The owner is Cajun himself and brings his own recipes from the bayous of Louisiana. Awesome prices as well! My favorite is the spicy boiled crawfish with new potatoes and corn, but they have a large menu and there isn't anything on it that I don't love!

If you are looking for good cajun food cajun George has it going on. The restaurant is open Thursday thru Saturday. The dining room is not big but you can sit outside weather permitting. Dont let the appearance scare you away it is a dive but the food is great. You can choose from varying specials or just go for a plate of shrimp and crawfish. The shrimp are the biggest I have ever had! So make the short drive across the river bridge into Lacey's Spring and you will not be disappointed.
